Nineteen year old Francisco Martinez appeared at a press conference this morning convened by ACORN to announce a new commercial and a series of law suits filed on behalf of voters illegally targeted to have their votes suppressed by right wing xenophobes.
Martinez filled out a voter registration application during a voter registration drive organized by ACORN at his high school earlier this year, and had his registration confirmed for him by the county board of elections. He later learned that his private information, including his social security number, were violated and used illegally to target him and many others for removal from voter lists. He is a plaintiff in a class action law suit announced Monday, filed by the ACLU.
In the video above, Francisco explains what happened to him, declaring, "I won’t be intimidated. In fact, I voted early, and my vote will count."
This is the face of the future, the very future the Republican party hates and wants to destroy, with eager support from race baiting firebreathers like Lou Dobbs.
The powerful new commercial released by ACORN follows below:

Let’s hope we have another couple of million such brave folks.
Go Francisco!
Thank you, Francisco and ACLU.
This is a good example of why the Republic Party should suffer the bathtub fate that Norquist wished for the federal government.
amen!
Morning Pach, thanks for those Acorn diaries. Bertha was amazing yesterday, Farancisco is reiterating today.
Thank you for your work on this Pach.
any one else here think Dobbs will run for office some time?
or is he having too much fun sniping from the pit.
he’s a sick person, rotted from inside out.
so much hate.
blinded by greed and bile.
otherwise mebbe a nice guy? NOT!
My apologies to Francisco.
These rethug bad actors need to be sued for everything they have, prosecuted in Fed court for conspiracy to block voting etc. and stripped of any professional credentials they might have.
¡No este vez, bitchez!
Si Se Puede !!!
Having recently seen Lou Dobbs on the teevee for the first time in several months, my take is, the hatenfire is eatin’ him up from within.
Soon, as Atrios would say, he will be eated…by his ownself.
kick ass.
take names.
this shit is just unacceptable.
Then, as one of the living dead, he can move his show to Fox News.
Has anyone ever made a list of who sponsors his hate fest on CNN?
bom dia pups
This warms my heart. I’m so glad they are pushing back and I’m thrilled to see the individuals american voters targeted are speaking out. That is power.
Listen to what Obama is saying: “This is not over. Power does not give up easily.”
Expect the worst over the next 10 weeks. They will lie, cheat, and steal to keep a black man down. And they don’t give a shit about us. Sarah Palin is giving cues to her Heggians and Dobsonites. After the election keep your eyes open. The Republicans have studied Rwanda. They know that with a small percentage of the population and a compliant media they can keep power. Bush would be only too happy to call a state of emergency. The code word is “Southern Strategy.”
Keep vigilant. This election has to be fair. Otherwise democracy is dead.
Thank you Pach.
These things give me hope, as do our own grown kids, who see to it that their friends are informed voters, and so on, and so on.
Older sonny gave me an Obama Tshirt for me birthday. Gotta love it.
The T plus gray hair makes a makes a quiet but strong statement, brings smiles wherever I go. ;->
This is going to be one ugly week.
And quite frankly, God-willing, if Obama wins it’s going to be an ugly four years.
I bet the first calls for impeachment will come before the inauguration. The fascists can’t stand the thought of being thwarted again. They almost had control in the twenties, but the depression came and with it FDR that turned back their advance both hear and in Europe. They’ve been trying to make a resurgence ever since and have been pretty successful the past 30 years or so, but once again their ideology produces its inevitable results and the people wake up to vote them out again.
Let’s just hope this time America didn’t wait too long to wake up — hopefully the corruption in our voting system isn’t so large that it is insurmountable.
nice tube pach!
as I noted on my diary, kerry was ahead 6 percentage the points the day of election and they managed to overturn our vote count
they use these methods, caging and machine flips
this is not in the bag, I am REALLY nervous
We should all be nervous — AND we need to figure out what our next move is if they pull another fast one in this election. We won’t have another chance in four years, we need to turn this around now or we never will.
Hopefully we’ll have the votes to overcoming Republican cheating, but what if we don’t?
I’m sure someone must have. He’s beyond being influenced, I imagine. I see him self-destructing before too long. But I’m probably way too optimistic.
Holding in so much hate is unhealthy. So he spews. And so yet another self-anointed “brilliant” person is consumed in the fires of his own making.
Bye bye Lou. I can’t stomach watching you.
McCain’s science earmark error
Millions to study grizzly bear DNA is ‘a waste of money,’ McCain says. Wrong.

there will be no honeymoon for obama
the FIRST thing he has to do is executive order {obama e.o1)
“torture is illegal, anyone comitting torture or violating treaties this country has given it’s oath to abide, will be prosecuted”
the second thing he needs to do is get congress to enact a “fairness doctrine” and it must be enacted before he leaves office, hopefully within the first year
My word, what attytood! Turn on some soft music and go have a lie-down.
Then come on back to the fray.
Of course we’re ALL nervous. But let’s not get terminal about it.
Take it from a naive person. It feels better walking forward, even if you’re pushing against the wind. Take my hand. We’ll do it, maybe.
Certainly, we’ll try.
Palin scoffed at the study of fruit flies. Someone should have reminded her that we can’t experiemnt on humans hence the use of fruit flies. *sigh* Science is our friend gov palin
beautiful words
Amen.
Fast action to de toxify everything that Bush has touched.
Let’s hope that the ACLU will prosecute those using the public airwaves to announce 24/7 that the election has already been stolen by ACORN.
This is a direct threat to fair election practices.
WTKK, Boston in its effort to sway New Hampshire voters that
ACORN has already stolen their votes
and that Barack Obama is a domestic threat to the Constitution
shuns all journalistic standards.
One self proclaimed political operative for all his adult life
has called on listeners to make it impossible for Barack Obama to govern effectively, to use any legal means to deny Obama any sort of honeymoon period, and to work with him to impeach Obama.
France McDormand, yes that Frances McDormand appeared on his broadcast as an Obama surrogate.
She owned him.

Frances, I can’t thank you enough.
I don’t think he expects one.
He strikes me as a deep thinker with dreams for a better future, and both feet planted solidly on the ground – a realist, but one who has been thinking and dreaming about this for a long time.
Right now, he’s in great danger and he knows it, and that’s not much of a guess. He’s tough, courageous, and positive in his outlook.
I wish him well, and look forward to having plenty of company in trying to help him succeed. Yes, if he wins, his will be a daunting task. He seems ready to me, as ready as anyone could possibly be. But I expect we’ll see him surround himself with quality people in his cabinet and staff, vastly different than the ridiculous gang of thugs now
runningruining the country. He has accepted the voters’ invitation to try. That’s a good thing. eh?
Awww Wobbly… *blush*
I hate cynicism. It’s so negative. It a waste of energy. D’oh! *g*
I would like to see an office set up that communicates with the blogs daily and establish a good two way communication effort. This would also help to minimize the impact of the MSM
Spencer has a new post up: You Just A Wee Bit Overconfident
I’ve been getting some weird calls people trying to sell me stuff on my sell phone has my information been sold? Could the GOP be checking people with Hispanic names and selling their information to phone sales people?
I am normally asleep or out when they call or I hang up but a few have been robo calls but not political.
From my diary here the other day:
Patrick J. Rogers is the New Mexico attorney who represents and advises the Republican Party of New Mexico on its voter suppression efforts. I have documented from the public record Mr. Rogers’ conduct that violates the New Mexico Rules of Professional Conduct. Unfortunately, the state bar system requires that a formal complaint be filed to begin a formal investigation, but you don’t need to be a resident of the state or even involved in the matter to file a grievance. Anyone can file one, but a grievance can’t be filed online, so I’ve simplified the process as much as possible. If you agree, you can easily file a grievance against Mr. Rogers with the State Bar of New Mexico in three simple steps:
1. Print, complete and sign the official Form for Complaint against a Lawyer in New Mexico;
2. Print and attach this page to the Complaint Form as the factual basis for the claim; and
3. Mail the complaint to the address noted on the Complaint Form.
My e-mail to Mr. Rogers requesting his response and my analysis are crossposted at The Grievance Project.
