PolitiFact has compiled more than 500 promises that Barack Obama made during the campaign and is tracking their progress based on the following categories:
Promises Kept: 52
Promises Compromised: 14
Promises Broken: 7
Promises Stalled: 14
PolitiFact also calculates that 114 promises are in the works, and that there are 295 they have yet to rate. So the anaylsis is incomplete, but it suggests an interesting point. Perhaps those on the left who are dissatisfied with Obama’s performance are not upset because he is breaking his promises, but because they never really agreed with him in the first place.
What’s on your mind tonight?

Now there are plenty of things that as a person who put in hundreds of hours for the Obama campaign am not happy with. They have only been in office for 9 months. It took the Bush administration 8 long bloody years to create this damn mess and tragedy in Iraq.
I keep saying let’s keep pushing, praying and stop pointing the finger. Give these folks some time.
Have you picked up on this McClatchy bomb

Yeah, ugly stuff.
It’s more than ‘ugly’ Jason when you have so many of the same players in Obama’s Admin and directing policy.
And ,yeah, getting his girls a puppy counts as a promise to the american people ,I guess.
The premise of this writer “Perhaps those on the left who are dissatisfied with Obama’s performance are not upset because he is breaking his promises, but because they never really agreed with him in the first place.” is very flawed however. And it is PERFORMANCE regards type and importance of promise that really matters.
Please remember ‘change you can believe in’ was ‘promised; the evidence declares that such has not occurred.
Absolutely. What we have now is so far superior to what we put up with for those bleak years of atrocity after atrocity, the constant drumbeat of criticism strikes me as dissociative, reality is much better than acknowledged, and we are much better off. Puhlease, there is much to be done, which isn’t helped at all by that Sit Back And Whine faction.
As to only 9 months, I say, read the handwriting on the wall.
I went and skimmed their list of “promises kept”, and sure enough it’s all ticky-tack trivia, meant to focus on the blades of grass rather than the forest.
We know damn well this person ran on the unspecified but explicit promise of great Change and has governed as a hard core entrenched status quo hack. As I saw one commentator put it, he ran as a world-historical visionary and has governed with the mindset of a crooked Chicago alderman.
It would be hard to find a bigger lie in American history.
Obama “make us do it”
thanks russ.
