It is 48 hours before a momentous election. As linked to him, Yogi Berra would say, "prediction is difficult, especially about the future". Using that ‘Yogiism’, it will be Obama with over 300 electoral votes.

This result will be a mandate to lift this nation up by its bootstraps, to overcome the morass and malaise in which it finds itself. It will be a metaphor for, "we’re mad as hell and we are not going to take this any longer " – - – recalling the famous line bellowed out by actor Peter Finch in the 1976 movie, "Network". Sounds strangely familiar today, even if it was first articulated 32 years.

But to ensure a future where our service men and women are no longer in harm’s way, where Wall Street and main street are on an even playing field, where we can receive affordable and accessible health care, where work begins to create alternative fuel resources within a decade, and our children can be educated once more to become the best and brightest, Obama must look to the past to avoid what did not work so that his first administration will be a very successful one. Recall the back-to-the-future movies, with actor Michael J. Fox. The main thesis of those flicks was looking to the past to preserve the future. So, too, now with Obama at the helm, the next four years will only look rosy if the policies of the last eight years are tossed aside, to be replaced with ones to carry out what the electorate has said with its vote that it needs and wants. Remember, history is bound to repeat itself unless we remember it. But with his leadership, together with an anticipated swelling in the ranks of Democrats in both the House and in the Senate, the past will be remembered only as a reminder of what not to do in the future.

Though the above remarks are only a prediction of what 48+ hours will bring , if it holds true, there will, indeed, be the start of the Great Beginning – - – rekindling the nation’s belief and spirit that real change will finally come about (after years of failure). With Obama at the helm and steering the rudder, with his background, vision and expertise, wisdom suggests that he will succeed. The sunrise of a new dawn will be upon this great nation come November 5. While the new president takes office on January 20, 2009, the real work no doubt will start on November 5 as well.
