A scorpion wanted to cross a river but could not swim, so he asked a fox to carry him across. The fox, demurred: You’ll sting me. Not I, said the scorpion, for that would mean the death of me, too. Very well, hop on, said the fox.
Halfway across the river, the scorpion stung the fox with a mortal wound. As the river sucked them both down, the fox said, you promised! Why did you sting me?
I know, said the scorpion. But it is my nature.

Lieberman busily pursuing extremist anti-Muslim agenda even as he tries to extort retention of the chairmanship of Homeland Security…or is it total psychosis?
Should Lieberman be taking a little time out in the room with the padded walls?
and reid never learns
lets send Reid 100’s of footballs- as in when Lucy (again) pulls the football out……
And the Dems are astonished, astonished I tell you, that the bailout is being used by banks to purchase healthy assets and reward themselves with bonuses and dividends….gee, who could have anticipated that Paulson’s cronies would turn out to be as unscrupulous as they’ve always been.
The lessons are legion.
No gavel for Lieberman. No trust for Republicans.
not now, not eveh!
Over at FDL, BookRadley said:
Oh, and there’s all that money being poured into the AIG/banking bailout…and the money being spent in Iraq… adds up to a tidy bundle that could be spent on windfarms, solar energy efficiency, rural Internetification, road repair and improvements, clean technologies, funding for lagging medical research….
Enough of the cozy “Casablanca” mentality…I want a WH and Congress that put people first in deed as well as word. Oh, and given the shenanigans now being revealed in the bailout package, never trust a Republican. Always ask, how can they corrupt and abuse this…and prevent it.
I’m hearing Condi-esque “no one could have imagined” handwringing out of Democratic quarters about the bailout, and my response to Dems is shame, shame on you for not expecting exactly this. And save me any postmortem handwringing over Lieberman as DHS chair.
It’s all of a piece.
If Lieberman holds his chairmanship, I shall assume each Senator on that committee voted for him, whatever the posturing, and make my future campaign support decisions accordingly.
Thanks PS.
