I just ran spoke an old friend from Capitol Hill, who knows all the players involved in the health care fight. His take on the Baucus proposal is as follows:

- Baucus has been working on this for a LONG time.

- This isn’t grandstanding. Baucus wants to move on health care reform and get the job done.

- This isn’t one of theose moments where getting just any bill through is considered a success, he actually wants real reform.

 So far this is good news.
