Simple answer to bitter man Marcus, boycott Home Depot. I have a good reason to shop at Lowes, I’m not supporting hatred & bigotry. Amazing people, go to bible studies but promote hatred & hypocracy.

Bernie Marcus another ultra rich greedy bxstard (I could use other descriptors but someone would accuse me of something I’m not) who is more concerned about containing the minuscule earnings of those many Americans who work and shop at his stores than advancing the overall US economy. He is a major part of the problem as are most of his elite peers on Wall Street that are sucking America dry with their special $700B bailout .

I wrote to them yesterday after reading the above posts, and here is what response I got:

“Thank you for contacting us in this matter.

Our founder and former CEO was obviously using hyperbole to make a point about a specific piece of legislation, the Employee Free Choice Act, and we will be sure to pass your comments along to him.
As it relates to EFCA, like most other retailers — including our main competitors — we think it’s a bad bill that takes away American workers’ right to a secret ballot, which is the most basic element of any democracy.

Sarah, Home Depot Communications “

It’s funny that these business guys just don’t get it. During Bill Clinton’s Administration, Home Depot went from around 10 dollars a share to around 50. During the current republican administration it went from 50 to 20. Perhaps that is why we think ‘Upper Management’ is clueless as to which Political Party is the business party

Your comments are appreciated. However, I wanted to add that any person with a substantial amount of wealth has an established foundation (and those egotistical enough will hold it in their names). This is due to taxation. Usually a certain amount of money will have to be given away anyway or face additional taxes which instead will be given away to the government. The larger the individual’s income stream the more they need to give away. Very few a true philanthropists as too many have alternative agendas (often unspoken strings attached to their donation). I can go on but I’m sure the gist is understood.

May I just join in on the Home Depot boycott. I will also have to tell the contractor who lives in the neighborhood. We just had a Lowe’s v. Home Depot discussion since we’re pretty much in the middle…

No business from me or my business. Very dogmatic remark for a person depending on the free market for success.

I’m already boycotting Home Depot because of their terrible customer service. So nice to know that none of the many thousands spent on our deck has gone to them. Lowes is a mile or two further but between them and the local hardware store I’m certain we can avoid Home Depot permanently.

Oooops. Make that first sentence “…assuring that I will never have to step foot in a Home Depot again.”

When will I learn not to fume and post at the same time?
