Sehr Gut! Danke.
Thanks! The WaPo0 had/has something similar but they buried it way too deep and made it difficult to find. I wonder why they would do that?
OK..so if I understand this chart, it’s Obama, Biden and then Sec. of State? Wait – I thought the next one was Speaker of the House. .I’m all confused now.
presidential line of succession
Thank you!!
So Hilda Solis would be 11th in line.. which would be the top progressive as labor sec.
Clinton 4th
Gates 6th
Holder 7th
G’morning, everyone. Need. Coffee. Now. Will present my personal family succession chart in due time.
Ah, yes, the best and the brightest. Visionaries with stellar track records of successful leadership.
morning barbara
Hugs, Barbara — how warm is it there? Believe it or now, the sun is out here and it’s 50 degrees now!!
Hi, TW and Elliott. ‘Tis only 10 degrees here (above zero!), headed for about 25. Lost a huge amount of snow in big melt Friday and yesterday. Later today, our hapless Vikings meet your Giants for all the marbles.
Toby, that is the executive flow chart and the the order of succession flow chart.

I’m sensing a pattern here I’m a little more than a little concerned with here. Let’s see Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff kind of proves no change towards Israel I’m thinking. Ken Salazar at Interior is kind of a tip of the hat that nothing will change there. I’m kind of appalled at what he’s wrought with the Clinton pick, for New York and the World no change there. With Warren the War against Gays is on full steam ahead… I would note that the majority of the “Change” seems to be at the bottom of the totem pole well hold on tight because I think we are in for a Hell ride…yeeha. I posted a version of this at NYT but as far as I know they didn’t use it.
Thanks twolf.
As Obama’s campaign financing came from the populace (The Internet), he is able to choose these cabinet positions based on merit and not on political or financial allegiance owed. Am I right in that assumption? There are not “Pioneers” to be rewarded. I think that’s refreshing.
Not unless you don’t count the Telecoms, they donated 300,000 little ones.
I think that using the order of succession is quite deceptive for two reasons.
1) The order of succession with the Cabinet SECRETARIES doesn’t reflect the actual sequence (which includes the VP, Speaker of the House, Senate Speaker, etc.)
2) This succession order may not actually reflect the “power relationships” within the WH. Rahm Emanuel will likely have a lot more power than the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (Shinsecki). Rice will likely have the Presidents ear more than Salazar. Hopefully his scientific advisors in NOAA, the Secretary of Energy, and others will have important influences in areas beyond their immediate towers.
What was the ratio of internet generated small donors to the $300K provided by the Telcomms? Probably something on the order of 100:1?
That was very cool. Thank you!
