Suppose the New Jersey Devils were a terrorist organization. Now further suppose that they began lobbing shoulder-fired rockets into Manhattan, generally creating a nuisance, some injuries, some property damage and a death. Now suppose that Mayor Bloomberg responded by conducting air strikes against every Devil home, demolishing buildings containing hundreds of condominiums, destroying neighborhoods of houses where Devil homes existed as well as all neighborhoods of homes any of them were known to visit, fire bombing every car running along streets known to be used at any time by Devil players, coaches and management, announcing to everyone in Atlantic City that because so many Devils spend a lot of time in that city it would be bombed to rubble, and, finally announcing that anyone of any age who was within a quarter mile of any known or suspected Devil hangout or home would be assumed to be complicit with the Devils and, therefore, would be executed either by air or an invading army.

Suppose the New Jersey Devils were an organization that had a few militant gang members, but that also had members who held the democratically elected offices of the Governor of New Jersey and a majority of the offices of the State Legislature. Suppose the New Jersey Devils were also the people who built most of the hospitals and schools in the area as well.
Then also suppose that Governor Paterson in addition to all the bombing and killing, had placed a 20-foot high fence around New Jersey and would not let anyone out or in with out his permission. And that although there are several million people living in New Jersey – he was refusing to let in food and medicine and fuel.
Kinda puts things in perspective when everyone blames Hamas for what is going on, doesn’t it?
