Having decided he needs more time to shed the stink on his last name, Jeb Bush announced today that he won’t seek the Florida Senate seat being abandoned by one-term Bush acolyte and former RNC helmsman Mel Martinez.
"While the opportunity to serve my state and country during these turbulent and dynamic times is compelling, now is not the right time to return to elected office," he said.
Really? Was your first clue the near-single-digit approval ratings with which your idiot older brother leaves the Presidency? Or was it the nearly tearful plea by your doddering dad for you to wait, since now might just be a time when America has had enough of Bush Presidencies?
Former President George H. W. Bush, father of both Jeb Bush and the current president, said this week he would like to see his second son become president one day, although he conceded in a television interview "right now is probably a bad time."
Or was it your brother’s outstanding record on the "core principles" you claim for the GOP?
"We must rebuild the Party by focusing on the common purposes and core conservative principles that unite us all — limited government, a strong national defense and safe homeland and the protection of liberty tempered by personal responsibility," Bush said.
Let’s see: limited government? Ask the folks taking their shoes off in every airport in the country. A strong national defense? Ask the Inspectors General who continue to find waste and fraud throughout our defense and homeland security agencies. A safe homeland? Um, 9/11 happened on your brother’s watch, kiddo. The protection of liberty? Ask the men still held without charge in the netherworld at Guantanamo.
Personal responsibility?
As in, the personal responsibility your older brother refuses to take for any of the disasters on his watch? And the personal responsibility shucked amiably by everyone in his Maladministration during the Legacy Tour the past six weeks?
No thanks, Jeb. Go make more money somewhere, likely ripping off taxpayers or stockholders. Elective office is in the future of no Bush.

I am hoping that he sniffs an investigation of the propriety of a sale like this using his contacts so soon after leaving office. If they are investigating Richardson, this certainly seems worth a very close look.
Jeb got a degree in Latin American studies From UT. Aside from being Gov. he managed to obtain numerous positios as a result of being a Bush. That gravy train are over.

I think there are a few of those around but very junior in the US House or recently defeated in House races.
But yeah, my memories of FL politics is the combination is a rare commodity. As far as that goes, it is rare in most states, not just Florida.
Grandson of a traitor. Son of a President who traded arms for hostages. Brother of a war criminal. Father of a junkie. Seller of worthless paper to his State’s Pension Fund. He was a shoe-in for Senate.
Can the country be so lucky as to be finally rid of this family in politics.

Two Bushs get hired by Lehman and poof..like magic..all the money disappears. I suspect that is why Lehman wasn’t rescued; too much investigating would have revealed who stole the money.
