FDA may miss researchers’ financial conflicts
3 hours ago
WASHINGTON — Missing information, loopholes and weak oversight hamper efforts to uncover financial conflicts by researchers who test experimental drugs before companies seek government approval, an internal watchdog finds.
As a result, the Food and Drug Administration’s screening system is unreliable, the Health and Human Services inspector general’s office said in a report being released Monday.
"We found a number of limitations in FDA’s oversight, leaving FDA unable to determine whether (drug companies) submit financial information for all clinical investigators," the report said. Investigators examined 118 new drug applications approved by the FDA in 2007
ahhhhhhhh the love and rapture of big money

Thanks for the post . . . but I’m a LONG-TIME choir member. My argument goes back more than 2 decades. Genetically-engineered insulin garnered approval from the FDA in a mere 6 months . . . even though there was no NEED or DEMAND for the product. The technology did not exist within the scientific community at the time (nor today) to PROVE what Eli Lilly contended in the patent. Additionally, this first bio-tech drug was approved like other small-molecule drugs (e.g. aspirin) . . . and has now supplanted ALL natural (animal) insulins for U.S. consumers. The letters I have written to FDA, legislators, agency heads, charitable advocates, etc. could compile a book of encyclopedic size. I contend that many of today’s deficiencies at the agency, and bad behavior within the industry, sprang from this initial road-map laid down by Eli Lilly.
profits,that is the ONLY concern…hey and google it…only 56 entries,Joe the Numbnutts,hundreds of articlesd……go figur
