2010 is not looking good for Republicans:
Ohio Republican George Voinovich is expected to announce Monday that he won’t seek reelection to the Senate in 2010.
A two-term senator, former governor and Cleveland mayor, Voinovich has been a political fixture in his state for decades. But recent press reports from his home state have indicated the 72-year-old lawmaker is considering retirement, and a person close to him told Politico that the announcement will come Monday.

I do not know how this will play out for the Dems. I think Voinovich was PO’d with the Plantation Caucus and this had a bit to do with his decision.
What I do not know is how this will play out. Since he decided not to run, he can vote for every stimulus that will help rebuild the country , giving the royal “Up Yours” to the Plantation Repugs, giving the Dems one of the two votes they will need on a number of upcoming issues…or it could be his way of going out glued to a dying brand and vote with his party. I am hoping for the former.
One important aspect about Voinovich, I think he will put Ohio over his party, as he finishes his last year.
