I waited until this morning to post this to wait for a clip. Funny thing, the clip isn’t posted anywhere. Nada. Wonder why Fox wouldn’t want to publicize such important ‘Breaking News’.
Moderately moderate Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Solomayer is a Socialist. Capital ‘S’. Glenn Beck proves it. He has the document.
During his show Wednesday, May 27, (no tape or transcript available for this segment that I could find), Glenn Beck read a quote from one of Sonia Solomayer’s yearbooks.
The quote was by Norman Thomas, a socialist from the days of FDR.
It was about excellence. Very ‘Contra’-versial…
I didn’t write it down, wish I had, pretty sure it was this one–if not, was very similar.
“The quality of a man’s life is directly proportional to his commitment to excellence.”
So, now she’s a socialist, I guess, for equating what kind of life she would have in her future, and what kind of life she had in that moment, with a commitment to excellence.
Glenn Beck said that using this quote about excellence in her yearbook ‘flags’ her as a socialist, so, I guess wearing a patch on your sleeve about excellence is the red flag that you are a ‘commie’.
A patch, with a saying like this one–
"There are no obstacles, only opportunities for excellence."- NousDefionsDoc
Strikingly rings the same ’socialist excellence’ bell.
Glenn better not mess with the ‘excellence’ crowd too much, because a site where they gather and where I found the quote posted by ‘NousDefionsDoc’ is here.
Here’s where the knome de plume ‘NousDefionsDoc’ is explained for those of us not fluent in the secret language soldiers learn and earn that bonds them with their brothers and sisters.
I think when this crowd, this family, hears a person being denigrated for believing in commitment and excellence, hears about the degree that she believes it, so much that she publicly stated it in her yearbook and went on to exhibit these hard-won habits in her life, I don’t think they will be running to join the GOP. I think this crowd will resent that characterization of her, whether they like her or not. They will respect her brave, permanent gesture. They understand what it means.
By attempting to mis-characterize her usage of Thomas’ quote, Glenn Beck shows that he has no understanding of what it entails. Striving for excellence is work, takes character and perseverance. He once again illustrated has no commitment to excellence. It is not something he deems to be of value, something worth earning.
If people like Glenn Beck are the quality of spokesmanship that the Republican party considers committed and excellent, if this taking of aspirations of hers-that have gone on to prove what an inspiring person Sonia Solomayer has become-turning them into a slap-happy attempt to crush her accomplishments and her progression of promotion she earned due to a life-long career of excellence, well..
Beck has once again isolated himself into the wilderness of ‘no-man’s-land’, drawn attention to himself by being ‘the last man in’. Not usually the quality of person people listen to when they’re looking to someone for an opinion.
Glenn has no clue how ineffective someone like he is to a person who spent their entire life striving for excellence. Not surprising really, these are usually things a class clown does not understand. A class clown who utters these comments during ‘The One Thing’ commentary about ‘The GM bailout’-
They don’t want you to use too much gas or listen to the hate speech on talk radio. That’s going to be one sweet ride: About the size of a golf cart; no radio and it’ll be hot-looking because it’ll be designed by a committee in Congress.
Great!
What are we doing? America did not become great by having government run business. Doing that will only drag us down into — at best — mediocrity.
I appreciate his candor in admitting what he does for a living is ‘hate speech’.
Followed at the end on the video segment by these pearls of wisdom-
"Sucks to be you". "No pain, no gain".
These last two comments, of course, were not included in the transcript.
Mediocrity. Socialism. When I want want advice on how to do something, I go to the experts. They are not hard to locate these days. They are steadily, without end it seems, piling up in the same spot.
That swamp where the GOP train derailed contains more desolate acres than i thought. Gonna be a long swim back. I don’t think their survival skills are as sharp as the people they are defaming. This could be a collateral loss. Those that survive? Knowing they had to be committed and strive for excellence to make it back? We can give them a patch, embroidered with a quote by a Socialist.
“The quality of a man’s life is directly proportional to his commitment to excellence.”
Wear it proud. Excellent.
(If/when I find the clip I will put it in the comments–or if anyone else finds a link, feel free.I’m not looking at any more GB sites for now. I gotta go shower now.)

Here’s a link to the quote that is under so much criticism. In case you don’t want to give the traffic to gawker: The quote itself—-”I am not a champion of lost causes, but of causes not yet won.”
–snip–
Here is the link. The comments are interesting.

I started to try to edit this diary, because putting in the wrong quote changes everything I wrote, but ‘edit’ was ‘timed out’. Then it occurred to me, I don’t need to do that. By using the word champion, Sonia Solomayer is making a statement about committment and excellence. You cannot become a champion of anything without knowing both intimately..
So, I stand by every word. It all comes from the same place.
Thanks, Ann. That turned into a whole ‘nuther thing, for me. I have known many types of champions and they all had that in common.
You’re very welcome, dmac. Glad you found my reply on Christy’s thread. Too bad I was unable to copy the pic that they had on Gawker. Probly could be done, but I am not savvy enough.
