Hi Firepups! The Dog kind of feels squeamish about this, but he could use your help. Netroots Nation is coming up and the Dog would dearly love to go, but as with many of us the money is just not there. Mrs. Dog got unfairly and illegally fired from Starbucks (there is likely to be more on that) a few weeks ago and so the Dog can’t afford to go to Netroots Nation 09.
However, there is a Scholarship program through Democracy For America, Dr. Dean’s grassroots organization.
One of the criteria for selection is community support. The Dog has had pretty good support from folks but every little bit helps. Which is where you come in.
As unseemly as this is, the Dog is asking if you would please go over to DFA and voice your support for his scholarship application. If you are not already a member of DFA, you will have to sign up, if you are member you just have to log on. Below is the link:
I would dearly love to go to NN09, primarly for the chance to learn and increase my skills both as an activist and a blogger. I have learned and improved a lot over the last four years, but I am one of those folks who believes you can never know it all.
The chance to talk and exchange ideas face to face with some of the top activists and bloggers in the nation is one which could take my work to the next level. If money were no object I would just pay to go, but that is really not the case at this time.
If you feel like I am someone who you could support for this, making your view known at DFA could go a long way towards me getting a scholarship. You can also vote for others whom you might recognize when you get to the form.
In any case, thanks for considering me.

Hey, STDS, I just 30 minutes ago cancelled my Netroots stay and asked that they give it as scholarship. Go after it, and I will too.

Done dog..and Now that you shared this great idea I put my application in I’d like to ask for the same support over there at the site. (getting youngest kid through college as a single parent and taking care of aging parents) (like everyone else I know)

Kathleen, I got an email stating that I would hear from the executive director of Netroots tomorrow. Prices have gone down since I bought my ticket, and it should cover two people. I’ll request that you be named too.
Damn….if that works thank you thank you. Asking is tough for me knowing that there are so many folks who deserve to go. But I did ask. A huge Thank you for even considering this.
