Because having Sarah Palin’s crowds call Obama a terrorist isn’t enough, the McCain campaign will be launching a new ad today on Bill Ayers, Obama, and scary scary boogah boogah terra terra. But it’s a web ad, so they are hoping to scam the cable networks into giving a non-story air time so they don’t have to expend any campaign cash on it. Via Jonathon Martin:
The idea here is to keep Ayers in the mix without spending precious dollars to put real points behind it on TV. Republicans know that cable TV stations will play the spot for free, regardless of it being a web ad.
Here’s a thought: No. It’s a lame, hail mary, pathetic attempt to change the subject from the economy and the fact that McCain’s campaign wears worse than a bad rug on a sweaty politician under stage lights. Frankly, I’m beginning to wonder if McCain found his campaign advisors in the back of a clown car.
Networks should call his bluff and just ignore the ad — no free air time, clown boy. Try talking about something substantive instead of trying to get the media to stir the dog whistle pot as a freebie for you. Or, if they must, then give Richard Trumka some equal time on the subject of dog whistles…

They need to remember that this is not ‘news’. This is manipulation.

Would it be possible for Obama or a 527 to make an ad on the Annenberg Group. According to a diary a kos, at least one of the board members work for McCain’s campaign.
Their MO for the last few weeks has been these freebie “news” coverage of web ad releases. Isn’t it time the “news” decided not to cover them and said “pony up, clown boy?” You want to keep oozing down the slime trail, then you should pay for it. No freebies.
Spotlight this! the point is to tell the MSM not to bite.
I don’t know if that would be a good idea because Annenberg pere was a champion of right-wing causes and it could piss off some lefties as much as it pissed me off.
sorry I hit the return by accident.
Knowing that Obama was working with a right-wing funded group even though it’s an established group, doesn’t make him seem very progressive.
It does show, however, that sixties radicals and right-wing fanatics can find common ground in the 21st century.
Frankly, I’m beginning to wonder if McCain found his campaign advisors in the back of a clown car.
Steve Schmidt: the John Wayne Gacy of campaign strategists.
The rest of ‘em flunked outta Clown College. They kept putting their noses on the wrong orifice.
