This week I decided to run this somewhat regular post throughout the health debate, so we could all share what’s happening on both sides of the PR push. So far, I must say, the advocates for meaningful legislation are winning the battle hands down. This week was ours, in both video content, honesty, and effectiveness.
Let’s keep our eyes open and use this opportunity to collect, share, and monitor what is sure to be a wild ad campaign ahead.
And take the time to be proactive by supporting BoldProgressives.org "Sign It Yourself" TV ad or my personal favorite, Blue America’s Campaign For Health Care Choice.
Please share any advertisements, polls, mailings, or other activity you may have noticed with us all in thread.

We are just getting started, but I must say I never dreamed the first week of posts on this issue would be far more positive for us (advocates of health care for all) than the dark side.
However, the RNC ad, against president Obama’s appearance and message on ABC was one nasty, paid commercial televised, piece of work.
Bravo. Give this guy a bigger ad budget and let him do his thing. Thanks for posting this, ES.
He has a few youtube’s and does wonderful work on all of them.
I just pushed the donate button for Lee. He does good work. The message are short and to the point. The voice over is very effective.
Wonderful mary!
That’s the kind of commercial we need.
I just noticed that at the bottom of the ad, there are links to other sites, and the links change each time I replay the add. One goes to a Massachusetts site, another to an insurance company.
I have two examples from 2008-09 to throw in the hopper:
An 85-year old woman, diagnosed with cancer, enters major So. Cal. hospital for a week of evaluation and treatment. She walks out of hospital with her prognosis – 3-6 months to live – and $120,000 in medical bills. Jarndyce v. Jarndyce anyone? She can’t afford to see doctor again and has filed for bankruptcy. Ironically, nutritional therapy has helped her hang on for nine months.
A 35-year old self-employed handyman, tree trimmer and musician, uninsured, gets a cold. A week later it lingers; lacking insurance, he tries salt water and hot compresses. Three weeks later his ears, throat and lungs are in extremis and he goes to the emergency room and lands in hospital for three days. Walks out with $35,000 in bills. That’s more than he makes in a year and he files for bankruptcy.
Delayed treatment is as commonplace as a sugared snack or can of Coke. That it leads to enormously greater individual and social costs – and greater profits – than preventive or early care is obvious. That medical providers sometimes over-test and financially rape the elderly, and always make the uninsured pay extra is as certain as an Obama proposal for more secrecy than George Bush demanded.
Dang ES I had seen that video this AM and was going to link to it but…. ya beat me to it my friend. We need to keep the pressure up on our elected to get the public health care option made into law!! Thanks for your work ES… (:
I did send the link to all my email friends and relatives!!
