It’s not often that my little part of Florida makes the national news beyond NCAA sports, but Gainesville is getting lots of press this week. A church on the northern edge of town has put up a crude, hand-made sign that declares "Islam is of the devil". There is quite a bit of push-back against this non-denominational fundamentalist group, and that makes me proud to live here. Here is coverage from the local television station:
There is an additional clip with an interview with the pastor that can be seen here on CNN. The sad news from that interview is that the church plans additional signs about same sex marriage and abortion.
I don’t know what it is about signs here that brings out the whack-jobs. Here’s a picture I took last September:

What a lovely set of neighbors to have!

They do indeed have the right to say what they wish….no matter how stupid.
I voted democrat but I think the idea of “get your guns today” is a good one. If you don’t you may live to regret it….or maybe you won’t.
Oh, absolutely. They have the right to say any stupid thing they want and we have the right to point loudly and clearly just how stupid and hateful their message is.
As for the guns, I think the best use for guns is to melt them all down and recast them as sewer covers. Every last one of them on Earth…
I hope that while Jones is exposing Islam for “what it is,” he’ll do the same for his “charismatic, non-denominaitonal church.” But I won’t wait on it.
