Well except that McCain has consistently relied on racist, pro-segregationist Neo-Confederate groups and individuals to assist his campaign in the South.

He made Richard Quinn, editor of the vitriolic Pro-Confederacy magazine “Southern Partisan” his South Carolina Campaign Director in 2000…and he remains on McCain’s payroll today.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/.....354/457290 ">McCain’s Ties To Extremist Magazine Editor Quinn’s magazine has been the major promoter of a revisionist version of Confederate history, arguing that black slaves actually benefitted from their slavery [a view that Randy Newman once mocked], and that the “Stars and Bars” was actually merely a symbol of Southern “heritage” and that blacks in the South should stop feeling “so angry” about White southerners merely showing their pride. After all, those white slave owners did so much “good” by rescuing blacks from Africa, I guess.

This is the guy that McCain’s campaigns have paid almost $200K to over the years. That’s far more than Quinn ever received for his magazine…and likely allowed him to keep publishing this propaganda.

Can we see why Lewis might be a little peeved that McCain foments a tad bit of racism?

McCain has also praised…you got it…George Wallace, Jr. of the Concerned Citizens Council (no hard K’s in that acronym).
