What are you talking about. Its not like “Republic” people is as catch as “ACORN”.

Good work, I am sure you know it will be ignored and in its place 10 hours of coverage on ACORN this week, and when that is not possible another 10 hours on McCain’s re-launch of his campaing and “new” stumpe speech (see Jon Stewart research where he actually synchronizes the tape and McCain says the same thing for 90%+ of the speech).

Being an R, take the money, never say you are sorry, and there is no downside (hell get run out of town and just hit the speech circut and lobby).

Time is far past for people to be held accountable for what they do.

Here’s the thing. McCain was for ACORN before it became politically expedient to be against them. He was their keynote speaker on Immigration reform at a 2006 rally - so you tell me, is he REALLY against ACORN? Of course not.

He is, however, aware that joining the bi-annual complaints about them will distract some voters and some media coverage from the economy, and that’s what MOST of this is about lately, getting the news to stop talking about Wall Street, AIG, failed deregulation, etc., so with the exception of their anti-Gwen Ifill ploy to make sure Palin could just parrot talking pointgs, the attacks about Ayers to whatever else you hear remember two things: First, it’s a smokescreen. Second, follow the money.

The ONLY way this will ever be covered by the MSM is if SEVERAL of us email them (cnn, abc and cbs news, msnbc) etc. As it is, cnn now is running a story ‘debunking’ candidate smears, including that Palin wanted to ban books (I guess the New York Times was just…lying?!) and that she was a member of the Alaska Independence Party. Well, no one SAID she was. what we were trying to get them to look into was that the First Dude (really the co-governor) was and that she is ON VIDEO congratulating them and seeming to be approving of their themes (their founder says he hates America, and they are all about seceding). the video is on bleepin’ youtube; it’s not that hard to find. yet they have no problem publicizing Obama smears. It’s clear they’re afraid of Mccain. Fine-then just say you’re partisan. Otherwise, it is BS and they should be called on it.

Sorry for the typos. Has anyone considered that the highly coveted Latino vote is ALSO a recipient of ACORN registration efforts?McCain himself gave the ACORN keynote address in Miami a couple of years ago,in conjunction with Hispanic and Catholic organizations. ACORN is NOT just African-American in nature! McCAin was at the forefront of immigration reform at one time -haven’t heard peep about that! They will be purging Hispanics,too, with this ACORN SMEAR.

Tom Davis is the Rethug who compared the Republican party to dog food that would be recalled. He stated recently he was NOT running for re-election. The b0ottom of the barrel GOP politicos are pitching in to do the muck raking ,in a last ditch effort to earn some political capital should McCain stal the lection. Is THIS really the BEST Americans and the GOP can DO?

It’s all a “purge” of new, old, poor, minority voters. I’m trying to express that using the word “purge” is the easily-grasped hook to this very complicated process — the ACORN thing, similarly, is a talking point to justify a purge of voters through restrictive laws, unfair disqualification, everything.

But is “voter purging” wide enough? I feel like to doesn’t encompass their total strategy, which is basically, let’s do what we can to prevent poor people and minorities from voting.

Excellent background compendium, Ari, I will be linking to it a lot, and hope it will do the job of killing a McCain talking point within 72 hours as all of our research does.

One thing though: I think the keyword for this issue is “Republican voter purging,” which is a much more concise and clear way of stating ALL the things that they do to stop people from voting in these last 40 years.
