I have new competition.
Serious competition.
I am a blogger who writes about law and often about federal law enforcement. This as not been such a crowed field, and especailly since Glenzilla got off just law and into a broader field, I’ve even had a few topics all to myself on the odd occassion.
But that’s all over now. Now I’m going to have to contend with a blogger who knows EVERYTHING about what’s going on in DOJ.
DOJ has started its own blog. I kid you not.
They are going to be on facebook and MySpace and Twitter, too. I wonder, does that mean that instead of dark suits and white shirts and sensible shoes, the new dress for sucess look at DOJ will be PJs and birkenstocks?
Welcome to the swimming pool DOJ, the water’s just fine.

holy shit – will doj become a dfh and start sprinkling fuck in their conversations?
You can thank Tracy Russo, online person at the Edwards campaign who is now running new media at DOJ.
The Department of Justice launches Justice.gov today in an effort to increase openness and transparency in government.
Howzabout, instead of a blog to achieve that goal, withdrawing the states secrets assertions in torture and massive FISA felony wiretapping cases?
I’m not sure which is more reassuring: A DOJ that openly and transparently supports torture or one that at least pretends it doesn’t.
BTW- I’m guessing that “photo gallery” that’s accompanying the bold effort at transparency won’t have any of the pictures the ACLU has been trying to get released.
Who knew there was such a thing as torture twitter?
“U wnt 2 crsh infnts tsticls? Okfine-DOJ wll lk fwd aka othr way. Thnx4askin”
Mary, that is a fine comment!
It’s an invasion of the blogosphere.

“NATO must make better use of networking sites and other social media to explain to the public what it does, its new supreme allied commander in Europe said on Friday — starting with his own Facebook page.
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen is also on Facebook and is signed up to micro-blogging site Twitter, where one post on Tuesday revealed he had a “terrific meeting with Prez Obama and his cabinet.” “

Gotta be all hep like the kids these days.
Why am I reminded of the Michael Steele GOP hip hop urban/suburban sensibility episode?
FTFY
Thanks, Cynthia!
They don’t seem interested in receiving comments on their blog– I don’t see any “response” feature like we have here. Did I miss it?
What do you think of the recent decisions coming out of SDNY?
Bob in AZ
No comments? Not a blog. Just a personal web page. I don’t care if you are a whole giant govt department.
How bizarre. Unless it’s just a web site called blog, the disclaimers alone should be entertaining.
Why am I reminded of ’60s parents attempting to be “cool” and chum around with their teenagers’ friends?
ROFLMAO
Yeah, that’s what we need. Going after Polanski and starting a blog while the criminals from the previous administration prepare for the next GOP administration which isn’t too far off.
I’d rather read you than anything DOJ has to say.
If I were allowed to comment on the DOJ “blog” I would say, “Hi, DOJjie! Can you tell me where your Anti-trust Division has gone to? We haven’t seen hide nor hair for goin’ on 9 years now, and we miss him!”
Press Releases ‘R Us.
And not even a direct email address anywhere if you want to contact the public affairs officer who posts the items.
I’ll have some of what Mary’s having.
And “blowjob”?
They need to say “blowjob” if they really want to be DFH.
SAY it? They’re GIVING it!
Only, I’m not aroused.

“Utilizing a variety of online tools, we will be able to share news and information, not just on our own web site, but through popular social networks Twitter, YouTube and MySpace and Facebook. The Justice presence on these social networks will allow Americans to interact with the Department in entirely new ways.
We welcome your feedback about the new site and your ideas for the future.”
