And Now For Something Completely Non-PoliticalBy: Jane Hamsher Monday October 19, 2009 5:56 pm |
On Saturday, along with egregious and Mary Jane Muckletone (my best friend from high school) I brought Kobe's ashes back to the house. We were looking for a good place in the house to honor him, and decided to create a comfortable place for people to sit and just disconnect from the computer and relax.
Got A Remarkable Dog Recovery Story?By: Jane Hamsher Friday October 16, 2009 4:47 pm |
If anyone's got a story they'd like to share about a remarkable medical pet recovery, please share it, because we could use some hope and inspiration tonight. Kobe sent me packing a short time ago because he said I was a big drag so I need to get myself in a better place and stay strong for him.
Howard Kurtz or NYT: Who Got Punk’d By Their Sources?By: Jane Hamsher Friday August 7, 2009 8:47 pm |
Howard Kurtz says that Keith Olbermann announced he'd stop talking about O'Reilly, THEN GE and Fox started talking. Brian Stelter of the NYT says that Fox execs "chuckled" when they heard Olbermann's rant, because "they knew that a pact had already been struck by Mr. Olbermann’s bosses to end the feud." Who got punk'd by their sources?

Bye Bye, Michael JacksonBy: Jane Hamsher Friday June 26, 2009 4:11 pm |
I'm sure Michael Jackson is happy he's not around to see all the psychobabble being dished up about his life. Did the crappy upbringing really doom him to brooding unhappiness, or did it fuel his otherwordly talent? Would he have been just as strange and troubled without the fame and fortune, or was being "Michael Jackson" the only thing that kept him out of Leavenworth? We'll never know. His soaring talent was obvious from

Rahm Emanuel: President Obama Opposes Prosecution of Bush, Cheney, Bybee, Yoo And Others Responsible For TortureBy: Jane Hamsher Sunday April 19, 2009 11:47 am |
STEPHANOPOLOUS: But what bout those who devised the policies?
RAHM: He believes that they were -- should not be prosecuted either. And it's not the place that we go -- as he said in that letter. I really recommend that people look at that whole statement. Not the letter, the statement. In that second paragraph: This is not a time for retribution. It's a time for reflection. It's not a time to use our energy and our time in looking back, and in a sense of anger and retribution. We have a lot to do to protect America. What people need to know, this practice and technique, we don't use it any more. He banned it.
Shorter Elizabeth Warren: Timothy Geithner, WTF?By: Jane Hamsher Saturday April 4, 2009 9:35 pm |
Elizabeth Warren, chief watchdog of America's $700bn (£472bn) bank bailout plan, will this week call for the removal of top executives from Citigroup, AIG and other institutions that have received government funds in a damning report that will question the administration's approach to saving the financial system from collapse.
Rob Johnson on Zombie Banks (Moyers Pt. 1)By: Jane Hamsher Saturday February 28, 2009 9:24 am |
Rob Johnson talks about the problem of just letting zombie banks lurch on, specifically that they could take the economy down with them. He argues that if they are allowed to stay alive, at the very least the regulators should be extra vigilant. He says he is encouraged by the fact that Obama is serious about revamping financial regulation, and is aware of the dangers of pure "free market fundamentalism." But he believes that we are at a crossroads, that people can become despondent, and that there is lack of political will stop the government from doing what they need to do to forestall disaster.
What if the Wingnuts Threw a Fit, and Nobody Cared?By: Jane Hamsher Saturday February 28, 2009 6:02 am |
One of the most interesting things about the latest Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll is that Nancy Pelosi's net favorability rating continues to rise. Despite being the target of right wing rage and held up as the poster girl for profligate spending, subject to sexist Twitter attacks by GOP members of Congress and targeted by human bile machine Ann Coulter, hasn't affected her popularity at all.
