I know that basketball heros are as flawed as anyone else. Yet I can’t help but attribute an ethical higher ground to players like Bill Russell, John Havlicek, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson, just to name a few. They were all stars; but they were also committed to teamwork — that’s the ethical thing.

Yes, the holiday decorations are almost all down. Now inauguration banners wrap every available concrete pole and advertising space in DC metro stations, at least some of them.

Lot’s of chatter about betraying, abandoning, ignoring the Left. Obama’s cabinet appointments do give pause, but it was clear from early this summer that if victorious, Obama would govern from the center. No surprise, really.
