For antiwar activists and pundits, regarding Julian Assange, Wikileaks, sexual harassment charges and Afghanistan, despite the ‘perfect’ conspiracy feel of things, credibility and common sense sensitivity matter.

Obama vs. Social Security Trial Balloon up! |
| By: fairleft Friday August 20, 2010 12:03 pm |
President Obama’s Social Security cutbacks are being trial ballooned today, with little resistance shown by the official left. Obama wants us not to notice those plans, while animatedly (since 2007) nodding and winking to the financial and economic elite. The U.S. Democratic Party are no help, of course, so what strategy do the rest of us need in order to successfully protect Social Security?
Alice in Guantanamo: Life for 15-Year-Old Soldier? |
| By: fairleft Tuesday August 10, 2010 3:46 pm |
Trying 15-year-old child soldier Omar Khadr for murder, the planned sentence life imprisonment, absurd and obscene on so many levels.
Defeating Cameron’s British budget cuts |
| By: fairleft Tuesday August 3, 2010 3:39 pm |
The movement to defeat the budget cuts David Cameron proposes for Great Britain will be a tough one. But there may be lessons here for the inevitable budget cuts proposed by Obama at the end of this year.
Israel vs Arabs doing ‘it’ with Jews |

“Turncoat [??] Afghan soldier kills 3 British troopers” |
| By: fairleft Tuesday July 13, 2010 5:00 pm |
“Turncoat [??] Afghan soldier kills 3 British troopers” is the AP headline on Yahoo news at the moment. Hard. to. take. sometimes. He’s _not_ a turncoat when he works for the US/UK occupation and the puppet they’ve allowed to buy the last national election, but he _is_ a turncoat when he joins the fighting majority. Yeah, right.
‘Chairman Steele, Afghanistan truth is taboo!’ |
| By: fairleft Saturday July 3, 2010 7:42 pm |
We all know Afghanistan is unwinnable, and that, as a consequence of that fact at the very least (I could think of better reasons), the foreign occupiers need to leave as soon as practical. Michael Steele, GOP Chairman, spoke the truth about Afghanistan and held his ground for, like, one day. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
U.S./Canada Chosen G-20 vs. Objective G-20 (w/ chart) |
| By: fairleft Tuesday June 29, 2010 12:47 pm |
The G-20 members should be selected by objective criteria, GDP rank based on purchasing power parity, rather than the way they were actually chosen, by the G-7 and/or the 1999 U.S. and Canadian finance ministers. Included is a chart showing how the proposed G-20 and the current one differ.
Obama Cancels Withdrawal, Peace No, Petraeus |
| By: fairleft Friday June 25, 2010 12:30 pm |
In case you hadn’t noticed, President Obama yesterday in effect canceled his ‘July 2011 begin to withdraw’ promise. Also, some IMHO realism on antiwar prospects and the possibility of a Petraeus presidential candidacy.
