Joe Lieberman's eagerness to hold Homeland Security hearings on the Fort Hood shootings prompt the question of whether anti-Muslim hysteria will be whipped to the point that some will call for the torture of Nidal Hasan. The outcome of such a decision would be catastrophic.

The New York Times wrote in an editorial Monday that the continued failure to prosecute Bush administration crimes while embracing expansive executive powers means that the cover-up of Bush's crimes is now Obama's. That's fine, but the role of the United States Congress in enabling and covering up the Bush era lawbreaking must not be overlooked.
