The 2010 midterms are not as critical as the Democratic loyalists make them out to be. Progressives are getting dire warning about the repeal of HCR, impeachment of Obama, the death of Social Security, and a host of other right-wing assaults on all that is good and decent should the Democrats lose their majority. The Kerry-Graham-Lieberman bill was likely the last hope for major climate-change legislation for a number of years. With Obama on the defensive and unwilling to spend political capital on the issue, and with Congress certainly getting more Republican in November, a great window of opportunity has been missed.
