Recently, while in an antique store in northern Wisconsin, I broke down and sprung for a used copy of the big-ass hardcover Time-Life version of Norman Rockwell: Artist and Illustrator.   And I don’t feel a bit guilty.

Seems anti-Latino-immigration guy (and Tea Party GOP gubernatorial candidate) Tom Emmer tried to hold a stealth rally in enemy territory. Unfortunately for Mr. Emmer and his friends, they got caught at it.

From the WaPo, 11/2/1991: “Jo Ellen Murphy, art director of the Weekend section, said that ‘[Juan Williams] was obsessed with my sex life and that’s all he wanted to talk to me about . . . . I raised my voice at him and said, “Just don’t talk to me again.” ‘ ”

John Boehner has voted with the Democratic leadership 52 percent of the time in 2010. So has Rep. Mike Pence, chairman of the Republican conference and former head of the conservative Republican Study Committee. Gee, they must be rubber stamps for Nancy Pelosi!

I’m seeing lots and lots of rage that is apparently looking for a place to go. And I’m seeing it everywhere.

More angry car accidents, more fistfights in public, more people fighting it out in blog comments section (even people who are normally friendly to one another). More fights between husbands and wives, more examples of teen violence.

Please. Stop.

The fact that remarkably similar “blame the victims” pieces have appeared in two separate publications, one with a national focus and reach, within a week of each other, makes me wonder if there isn’t a coordinated sub rosa push by homophobic groups to use this version of “blame the victims” as their standard defense when called to account for making these gay kids’ lives so miserable that they felt taking their own lives was the only option left them.

It’s finally happened. The decades-long ascendancy of the Allen Quist/Jon Grunseth/Tom Emmer social conservative breed of whackaloon has finally done what the DFL alone could never do, and all but destroyed the Republican Party of Minnesota.

Two Minnesota entities currently in the news are in the midst of blowing up in the home stretch of their respective campaigns: The Minnesota Twins and Tom Emmer.
