Former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman and codefendant Richard Scrushy recently filed appeals of their criminal convictions with the U.S. Supreme Court. Our initial reaction? Karl Rove followed Alabama politics and the Don Siegelman case closely, according to documents and testimony released yesterday by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee. A White House staffer even sent Rove a "news alert" about the Siegelman conviction before it had appeared on evening newscasts.
