A judge ordered the Justice Department to start collection procedures on the Queen of the Birthers, Orly Taitz today. She is going to resist. This makes the future of this bat crap crazy woman pretty clear.
There is starting to be a cynical and defeated group on the left who are arguing that doing nothing would be better the bill taking shape in the Congress right now. People are always welcome to their own point of view, but I think they are not looking at the over all picture closely enough when they argue this point.
Today is veterans day and this always gets me thinking about the people I have known who have served in the military. I would like to share some of their stories with you.
The Senate is talking like they have all the time in the world to act on Health Care Reform. If they will not move forward with all due speed, then I see no reason why they should have any breaks, like the Thanksgiving and Christmas Recesses. The House actually has the power to keep them in secession, and it is should use it!
it is one thing to argue for a continued presence in Afghanistan, it is quite another to do so when we do not have the tools needed to have success (however that is defined). Given the mental cost our wars have inflicted on our troops, and the long time lines is seems it is less likely we can actually do anything effective there.
There is a fine line between free speech and incitement. Most of the time folks who say crazy stuff don't come even close. Today Rep. Bachman may find herself on the wrong side of that line.
It is a real drag to lose a hard fought political battle. However, it is not always the end. The loss in Maine shows we need to stop fighting State by State and take this to the Supreme Court as a Fourteenth Amendment issue.
One of the reasons the blogosphere has grown up is a frustration with the reporting of the traditional media. Tonight will be a great example of why folks are frustrated.
Today is the final push for No On 1. It can be won, but to make sure we have to get the vote out. Please, take an hour to make a difference for equality. Do it for the citizens of Maine, do it for your gay neighbors, do it for yourself, do it for future generations who will scratch their heads that we ever prevented gay citizens from marrying, but do it now!
This is my weekly attempt to keep the issue of torture accountability alive. Please take a few minutes to read it and send a letter to the AG and other decision makers to urge them to do what is right and required by law.
