This takes at face value that Obama cut a deal with Secretary of Defense Gates to repeal DADT. However, this seems doomed to failure.

There’s been much talk over the months about Rahm leaving. Now there is a rumor that Rahm will be out after the midterms.

This diary entry is written because of Obama’s curious Oval Office speech where he says he’s going to form a commission to find out why he was told offshore drilling was safe while he leaves out saying how told him it was safe:
The third part of our response plan is the steps we’re taking to ensure that a disaster like this does not happen again. A few months ago, I approved a proposal to consider new, limited offshore drilling under the assurance that it would be absolutely safe –- that the proper technology would be in place and the necessary precautions would be taken.
That obviously was not the case in the Deepwater Horizon rig, and I want to know why. The American people deserve to know why. The families I met with last week who lost their loved ones in the explosion — these families deserve to know why. And so I’ve established a National Commission to understand the causes of this disaster and offer recommendations on what additional safety and environmental standards we need to put in place.

In following the Gulf of Mexico oil rig explosion I’ve been surprised at Obama’s response where he’s just been sitting in the White House and saying BP will take of it while at the same time saying he’s keeping with “Drill, Baby, Drill!” Now that I’ve gone to OpenSecrets it makes much more sense…

The more time that has gone on, the more various politicians have been exposed as dishonest and trying to put the wool over people’s eyes. It’s becoming increasingly clear that with those in power do not want beneficial HCR despite their smoke-and-mirrors tricks to try and fool people otherwise. The votes aren’t there to get real reform, so no reform is better than this hunk of junk they are trying to foist upon us.

With Fauxbama’s latest PR campaign claiming to be against Wall Street, today in my email I received a messages from the USPS trying to get me to sign up for Mastercard. I’m not really surprised as I didn’t believe Obama in the first place.

Much has been made on whether or not Martha Coakley should be supported. A number of people on FDL feel that she shouldn’t be supported because they believe supporting her would advance bad policy, with much of the debate centered on Policy versus Politics. Given this, I think it’s important to remember why MA is having a Special Election in the first place and showing the unintended consequences of putting politics ahead of policy.
