Social Democracies in Europe have successfully established a “middle way” between collectivism and individualism resulting in very decent and successful societies. The Right’s incessant vilification and demonization of anything that remotely resembles “Socialism” is intellectually and morally bankrupt. Progressives need to be far more assertive in citing the successes and abundant virtues of these societies and what they represent in our quest to bring genuine compassion to governance.
