Last week, I received an email invitation to attend Senator Al Franken’s open house at his St. Paul office yesterday from 3 to 7pm. I figured his office would be packed with people by 5pm, so my best bet would be to arrive at three if I wanted to speak to Al.

Rush Limbaugh has been good enough to provide us with a recent example of the toxic shaming manipulation tactic:

I was flipping through the television channels this morning and thought I was seeing the standard infomercials and Sunday morning religious programming, but one program caught my eye: The Coral Ridge Hour, a weekly television program founded by the late Dr. D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries. What I heard sounded awfully political in nature for a religious organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

There’s no doubt that the Democratic leadership has betrayed their progressive supporters and Americans as a whole by not protecting their Constitutional rights from Republican abuse of power. It’s hard to imagine a legitimate scenario where this betrayal could have served our best interest.
