The biggest mistake I see many make when trying to sell the Democrats is to call the prospects stupid, and tell them buying the product is the only way they can stop being stupid, apparently thinking the prospects will immediately reach for their wallets and say “where do I sign”?

California’s budget crisis is actually much less than they’re spending on the war in Afghanistan. $26 billion for the budget vs $38 billion for war. And what do they get for it? It’s not better to live in California thanks to the war. It’s actually getting much, much worse.

Is 2010 going to be a slaughter for Democrats? Listening to shows like Hardball and reading headlines like CNN’s “Democrats Dropping Like Flies” might tend to make you think so at first blush, but it is a hell of a lot more complex than that. So I thought it might be worthwhile to take a look at all the factors before starting to despair and weep in my latte.
