West Texas is a windy, open place, known for empty space more than anything else. Out there in wind farm territory, one of its best known residents, Boone Pickens, has been tossed right off of his plan for making energy out of the winds. In his latest announced plan, natural gas is Pickens’ newest alternative energy source, replacing the wind farms he was touting just last year.

At today’s Presidential press conference, New York Times Reporter Jackie Calmes asked Obama if he now regretted his early decision to expand offshore drilling. What he said leaves expanded future drilling up in the air.
