A disturbing pattern has emerged at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in recent years, warranting accountability and action. Beth Israel Deaconess has lost sight of its original ideals, raising questions as to whether the hospital has failed to put the needs of patients, Greater Boston communities and caregivers first.
There is mounting evidence that the BIDMC’s current administration is running the institution as a business above all else. This is the common thread that ties together all the issues outlined on this website: Beth Israel Deaconess’ increasingly corporate style of medicine.
We have launched a massive media campaign and an extensive website with sources so that BIDMC can be held accountable and it is our hope that by revealing ongoing systemic problems, we will spur a return to the principles that defined the Beth Israel and the Deaconess at its founding: The ideals of “service to community,” “mutual respect and collaboration” in the workplace, and treating “patients compassionately.”
