A US withdrawal does not mean abandoning the Afghans. Afghanistan suffers from too much foreign meddling, not a lack of it. And through all of it, the Afghans themselves remain completely helpless to the fate of their own country.

After five decades of destroying any national government, head of state, or aspiring leader who posed the remotest prospect of standing between the Seven Sisters and those pesky brown people living over the Sisters’ oil, now Langley and the Pentagon see the rewards for their triumphs. As do we.

The Syrian government has broken relations with Baghdad. It has completely opened it’s border. Expect some painful blowback.
