Noun Faith Produces Consumers, Verb Faith Produces Citizens |
| By: Chuck Freeman Saturday August 14, 2010 6:00 am |
Noun Faith is form of mind control. It produces consumers.
“Verb Faith” paints a starkly contrasting portrait.
The word translated “faith” in the New Testament simply means,”trust.” Do we trust in unprovable speculation about metaphysical realities by those who know better, or do we trust in a grounded, earthly, integrated faith?

The Danger of the Wikileaks’ Leak: You Might Stop Thinking Like an American |
| By: Kevin Gosztola Wednesday July 28, 2010 7:51 am |
Historically, the US does not want the American people involved in deciding what the US does in its foreign policy. Contrary to American tradition, Julian Assange and Wikileaks display a belief in the value of citizen participation and interest in the business of governments worldwide. As Assange said of the leak, “People who are around the world who are reading this are able to comment on it and put it in context and understand the full situation.”
A Consumer is a Subject, A Citizen is a Verb |
| By: Chuck Freeman Friday July 16, 2010 1:00 pm |
Somewhere along the way a mutation was engineered. You are now a Consumer. You have deformed into a buying machine. A Consumer is a Subject. In the days of Kings the Subjects had no choice. They were ruled by a superior social order or military force. In our day we actively accept being Subjects.

The Media’s Billion Dollar Ad for Evan Bayh |
| By: Cenk Uygur Tuesday February 16, 2010 10:29 am |
The mainstream media has been giving Evan Bayh a big fat sloppy kiss for the last 24 hours. Every single story is about how moderate and centrist and independent he is. Golly gee willikers, Evan Bayh is such a pure and innocent person and he just couldn’t take the corruption of Congress anymore. He was so fed up with the partisanship and like any great man decided he must strike out on his own and leave DC.
Come on, are these people this naïve or do they have a stake in this? Do you really think Evan Bayh only has pure motivations and was the last good man in Washington. This is absolutely absurd and on many fronts the exact opposite of the truth. No one made a deal with corporate lobbyists faster than Evan Bayh did. He wasn’t sick of the problems of DC, he was the problem of DC.
Media Coverage of Reid Deepens America’s Illiteracy, Fear, and Anxiety Toward Race |
| By: Kevin Gosztola Tuesday January 12, 2010 10:11 am |
The media spent a full day on Monday, January 11th, dissecting and reconstructing the surface meaning of Sen. Harry Reid’s remarks on Obama, which most pundits and political leaders have characterized as racist. But was the comment really racist? Was it correct but said the wrong way? Does it mater how it was said? And how much more damage did the media do to the public’s already existing inability to unflinchingly address and discuss real issues concerning race?
How Progressives Can Move Obama to the Left |
| By: Cenk Uygur Friday December 25, 2009 1:58 pm |
There are many debates among progressives now on the true nature of Barack Obama. Did he mean anything he said on the campaign trail? Is he really a progressive? Did he ever mean to challenge the status quo or was he using the word “change” as a campaign gimmick? Is he just a corporatist like most other politicians?
