Urge EPA to rethink toxic chemical after scientists say it can’t be managed

Please help. Farm worker families live in homes surrounding fields where the toxic pesticide methyl iodide is applied. A recent scientific study by a national panel said “Adequate control of human exposure would be difficult, if not impossible.” In addition the report raised serious questions about the scientific accuracy of the federal review that was done under the Bush Administration. Please help the UFW and other environmental and farm worker groups ask the EPA to rethink allowing this toxic chemical to be used in our fields.

I’m delighted to report that Wednesday was a very good day for environmentalists concerned about extracting nonrenewable carbon-emitting fossil fuels, with not one but two victories over those who would suck the marrow out of the bones of our planet to leave it dry for the next species to inhabit the earth.

Chamber attacks EPA’s regulation of greenhouse gases

Late Friday afternoon, the US Chamber of Commerce filed a petition with a federal appellate court to review the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to regulate greenhouse gases on grounds that the EPA used a flawed rulemaking process. The Competitive Enterprise Institute filed a separate petition claiming that the science used by the EPA is flawed. Lawsuits will surely follow.
