A Different Kind of Senator

By: Senator Carol Moseley Braun Tuesday April 27, 2010 12:14 pm

I don’t usually get involved in Democratic primary contests, but this race was too important to stay on the sidelines. In North Carolina we have three candidates vying for the Democratic nomination, but one stands out above the rest. That candidate is Ken Lewis.

Lewis Calls on the Sierra Club to Withdraw Endorsement: Says Cunningham was for Drilling Before He was Against It

By: forwardnc Thursday April 15, 2010 11:01 am

Along with the press release, our Communications Director sent this note to the Sierra Club:

In the debate last night we saw again that the only thing clear about Cal is his inconsistency. Now on both offshore drilling and nuclear he has made contradictory statements, trying to have it both ways. It is apparent that he is attempting to get the support of progressive groups now, but also position himself for a shift in the general election. He’s faking left, but very clearly headed right. I believe that this endorsement is a mistake and will look bad for the Sierra Club. The Sierra Club, and the broader environmental community, only loses out when it endorses candidates that do not show real leadership on the environment.

Ken Lewis: A trip to Eastern North Carolina

By: forwardnc Monday April 12, 2010 9:08 pm

This past weekend Democratic County Conventions were held in North Carolina.

The other candidates mostly stayed in the big cities and metro areas. But Ken wanted to head to Eastern North Carolina, to make sure his message got heard across the state. While visiting Elizabeth City Reggie Ponder, a reporter from The Daily Advance, caught up with Ken and wrote this article. The surprise here, for a politician, is that you see the same candidate in Elizabeth City as you do in Chapel Hill. No flip-flop. No wishey-washey. A voice for North Carolina, consistent across North Carolina.

Lewis Slams Cunningham on Labor Flip-Flop

By: forwardnc Friday April 9, 2010 6:03 pm

Bruce Clark, Lewis’ campaign manager, said, “It seems clear from the news reports that Cal Cunningham said one thing to the Teamsters behind closed doors and another thing to everyone else outside the room. What is worse is that Cal, when caught mid flip-flop, showed us a window into how he would lead in Washington – he wouldn’t lead at all.

This is shocking. In a discussion of whether the new pay-czar’s authority extends to outgoing CEO Ken Lewis’s expected $69 million pay-out, Bank of America spokesman Bob Stickler declared Barack Obama’s presidency outlaw.
