In clear violation of U.N. resolution 1701, which Israel signed at the conclusion of their ignominious defeat in July-August 2006, Israeli troops violated Lebanese sovereignty this morning, cutting down a tree on the Lebanese side of the border.

The incident has now led to several deaths and escalating rifle, rocket and artillery fire.

“Actually it’s a lot of fun to fight. You know it’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up with you. I like brawling.”

A lot is happening in the eastern Mediterranean Sea this week and weekend. Boats, ships and fleets are coming and going. Friday, the biggest U.S. Naval task force in decades passed out of the Med through the Suez Canal, on its way to the Persian Gulf.

“Prophecy” is a play that shows us and pulls us into what we need to know, and yet leaves us with a crystal clear understanding that we are not expected to merely feel worse about what we are allowing to occur.

We learnt today that the crème de la crème of the Israeli military can only manage to “win” against unarmed civilians with extreme difficulty.

It’s been a full year since Israel unleashed ‘Operation Cast Lead’ against the people of Gaza, leaving 1,400 dead (mostly civilians), and the entire place in complete ruins. Israel’s contention all along has been that this annihilation of Gaza’s civilians and infrastructure was merely collateral damage.
