The media love to talk about transparency and accountability when it comes to politicians and the government — they should, it’s an important subject. They, too, have such an obligation of transparency to the American people, particularly when it comes to who can and cannot advertise on their coveted airwaves. On that account, they continue to fail miserably.

The real question is, what else does Dobbs have to do to get fired? He called Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst a “public service,” perpetuated the birther conspiracy, has congratulated the Minutemen, and just last week was honored by the anti-immigrant group FAIR – designated a Hate Group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Unfortunately, Van Jones resigned from his position with the White House Council on Environmental Quality this past weekend. Van was one of the few movement progressives in a policymaking role with this administration and his loss will be felt across the board. But it makes sense to talk about the larger problem that lead to Van’s resignation. Carl Pope called it a lynch mob and the only thing he’s wrong about is that it didn’t start a month ago, it’s been building since before the 2008 election.

If the economy weren’t tanking and our retirements being wiped out, I’d be saving, finally, for that trip to Paris, or maybe Florence, that I’ve always wanted to take. But it seems I won’t have to go there because, according to Lou Dobbs and Mitch McConnell, France will soon be coming to Cleveland.
