CNN Stinks And They Know It, But They Still Can’t Help Themselves

By: Jim Moss Wednesday October 20, 2010 6:26 am

Like the whole of mainstream media, CNN stinks and they know it. They are aware of how their shows distort the political reality and divide the American public at a time when we desperately need unity. But they still can’t help themselves. Let’s just turn them all off.

Preparing Children to Be Poor at College

By: bmull Sunday September 12, 2010 7:39 pm

Your child’s been accepted to an Ivy League school. You’re excited. Although children from Podunk have been accepted to college, none had a scholarship that actually allowed them to attend. But as a poor protective parent your next thought probably is, “How will my child cope in a ‘mixed’ environment?”

We just received the worst economic news of the year, all the Mainstream media can talk about is a mosque and Dr. Laura?

By: Cenk Uygur Thursday August 19, 2010 5:21 pm

Fox News finally made it official. They are part and parcel of the Republican Party. They are now the largest donors to the Republican Governors Association, having given them $1 million dollars. They also employ three out of the top four Republicans in the Iowa Caucus Poll for GOP presidential candidates.

Timothy Geithner Is a Joke, But The Joke Is At Our Expense

By: marinara Friday June 25, 2010 5:14 am

News media loves Geithner. Why do they love him? Because his sentences are utterly meaningless. A good fit for the crappy news media.

Why Our Nobles Betray Us

By: Cenk Uygur Monday June 21, 2010 3:01 am

I understand that it’s a little goofy to draw lessons from a fictional movie, but I am going to proceed nonetheless. My wife and I were just watching Braveheart and there was one interesting element in there. In the movie, the nobles of Scotland keep betraying William Wallace who is fighting for the people of Scotland. And my wife asked me why the nobles continually stab Wallace in the back if he is fighting for their country.

My Response to Sarah Palin’s Facebook Post on U.S. Media Coverage of the Seizure of the Gaza Flotilla

Wasilla Alaska’s foremost quitter and cult compound developer, Sarah Palin, has issued a very predictable, ghost-written, facebook response to the illegal seizure on early Sunday, of a flotilla of vessels attempting to bring humanitarian supplies to the 1.6 million people being illegally besieged in the Gaza Strip. In it, she criticizes the U.S. media for “reporting one side of the story,” something we’ve also been doing a lot of at firedoglake. Sarah’s take is different from ours, though. Allow me to walk us through hers.

I am the Afghanistan Blogging Fellow for The Seminal and Brave New Foundation. You can read my work on The Seminal or at Rethink Afghanistan. The views expressed below are my own. Over the weekend, Tom Hayden had a great opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times where he pretty much destroys the whole idea [...]
