The “DREAM Now Series: Letters to Barack Obama” is a social media campaign that launched Monday, July 19, to underscore the urgent need to pass the DREAM Act. The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, S. 729, would help tens of thousands of young people, American in all but paperwork, to earn legal status, provided they graduate from U.S. high schools, have good moral character, and complete either two years of college or military service.  With broader comprehensive immigration reform stuck in partisan gridlock, the time is now for the White House and Congress to step up and pass the DREAM Act!

Dear Mr. President,

In May, my mother and I were picked up in an immigration raid in our home. I was told that in 2002, when I was just 12, I missed a court date at which I was ordered removed from this country. I’ve been in detention for three months, now, awaiting my deportation.  My mother was deported on Friday, August 6th, and I’m set to be deported any day now.

Sometimes I wonder if there’s just a handful of select hunting pics in the world that various politicians use and then Photoshop their own heads into…not to mention other canned “down with the common guy” poses.

Been looking up Fred Johnson’s (D MI-2) new opponent in the Michigan-2nd Congressional race, Bill Huizenga. Looks like it’s a race between a common man and a “common man.”

Never say that your vote doesn’t count in an election; only one vote separates Republican congressional candidates Dan Benishek and Jason Allen in the primary race for Michigan’s first congressional district.

I’m going to try to sift through results from the Michigan Secretary of State’s office as they come in tonight to make sense of these electoral entrails.

The article today on Politico.com entitled, “Predicting an end to Roe v. Wade” is why I am running against a long-time, never-been-challenged Anti-Choice democrat. The reality of this landmark personal privacy issue being overturned infuriates me.

Women aged 51 years of age and younger have never had the chance to vote for a Pro-Choice Congressional candidate.

There is plenty of blame to go around in regards to the Gulf Oil spill.

The oil spill is ravaging the water and marine life, the shoreline, the marshes and the livelihoods of everyone in the region.
