Judge Virginia Phillips: No Stay on DADT Ruling |

Judge Virginia Phillips on Tuesday declined to stay last week’s ruling that Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell is unconstitutional and must immediately end. The government has signaled its intent to appeal to the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco.

This raw video shot at the Times Square military recruiting office earlier today shows USMC Lt Dan Choi gain admittance to the office and enlist in the US Army, after having been discharged under DADT. Dan explains what happened inside: he is eligible to be re-enlist, even though he is an officer. Tomorrow they’ll figure out what steps are necessary to get him back on duty.

The Pentagon, in its continuing bumbling response to federal District Judge Virginia Phillips’s possible overreach, issued a memo directed at gay and lesbian troops currently serving, which essentially said “Careful, now, nothing’s really changed.”

It’s startling to be reminded how long ago 9/11 was because our public figures keep talking about the Afghanistan War like it started last year. General Petraeus let us know back in February in a Meet the Press interview that we were just then getting “the inputs about right,” and were now “starting to see some of the outputs.” Nine years into this war, and Petraeus lets us know they’re just getting warmed up. Good God.

The Pentagon spent $50,000 of our money to buy up the first edition of “Operation Dark Heart” by Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer and destroy every copy. The second printing has lots of words blacked out. Wikileaks claims to have a first edition, but hasn’t shared it. However, reading the bleeped-through version reveals plenty.
