Neo Feudalism On The Bayou: Well-Connected DC Attorney/BP Payout Czar Decrees Gulf Clean-up Fishermen Work For Free

By: Monday July 19, 2010 1:02 pm

No wonder payout czar Feinberg’s a succeessful well-connected insider DC attorney. He’s so slick he’s decreed the fisherman who contracted to work cleaning up the poisons BP spews will have their income from that work deducted. From what? From what ever settlement he may award them for damages…damages from BP’s oil apocalypse.

Yep, Czar Feinberg, in his generosity, demands the fisherman cleaning up BP’s posions from our public waters do their work for free. Such an opportunity! Shock Doctrine, meet Czar Doctrine: Feinberg’s gone neo-feudal on the Gulf. This Czar’s using the job Obama and BP’s top man picked him for to get back to his roots….in 16th centruy Russia. Is that where the President hopes to bring the wounded Gulf?

Defend This, O-Bots: Obama Administration Would Rather Cut Food Stamps than Arne Duncan’s Slush Fund

In an explosive interview on his way out of town, Rep. Dave Obey says just how far they’ll go to preserve Arne Duncan’s blackmail game.

“Getting Rid of Fat” – Layoffs and Old Ladies

By: Friday June 11, 2010 8:31 am

New decade and it is the same old flim flam going on with new buzz phrases. Back in the 1980s during merger mania, Carl C. Icahn said of layoffs “that the layoffs that do occur are really getting rid of the fat that is not productive for society.”

Cajun Canutes’ Shock Doctrine: Lethally Incompetent Corps Of Engineers Should Build Toxic Mud Pies To Stop Toxic Oil Slick

By: Sunday May 9, 2010 3:59 pm

If there’s a competition for most ecologically illiterate proposal of
the 21st Century, the Jindal-Nungesser plan must be a leading candidate.

Outside of Planet Jindal, turns out the shallows of the Gulf Coast are
the anterooms of the Coast’s aquatic nurseries. Digging them up to
protect against BP’s oil volcano makes as much sense as pulverizing
neonatal ICU’s entrances to protect against asbestos in the hospital
walls.

Moreover, what keeps grasses and trees rooted in riparian / tidewater
islets is *soil* – a living ecosystem. Not fill dirt. Jindal’s
proposed barrier islands will have all the viability of mine tailing
mounds sprayed with fertilizer and grass seeds: a combination that
will sprout seeds on your roof, but will never grow a lawn.

Oh – the sediment that eco-idiots Nussgesser and Jindal want to dig up has one other small problem. That sediment that washes down the Lower Mississippi? The sediment that forms the shallows is thoroughly mixed with long-lasting deadly persistent organic pollutants. The very same “shallows” Nungesser and Jindal want to heap up in piles off Louisiana’s already poisoned coast: the perfect mechanism to ensure winds, tides, and hurricanes carry the once-buried toxins inland to the marshes and wetlands these crackpots purport to be saving.

New York Times Calls for Economic Shock Doctrine in Afghanistan

By: Friday April 23, 2010 5:41 am

An editorial in Friday’s New York Times advocates for Hamid Karzai to hand over responsibility for economic redevelopment of Afghanistan from the United Nations to the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Such a move would do nothing more than complete the rape of Afghanistan by the west and institute policies that Naomi Klein documented in The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism.

Will Obama and Harry Reid back DiFi’s secret deal to sell billions of publicly owned water to her wealthy donor?

By: Friday February 12, 2010 4:51 pm

Last night Sen Diane Feinstein (D-Billionaires) announced her last minute secret deal to revoke Federal environmental law and a century of Western water law so that we taxpayers can subsidize a few hundred deadbeat welfare millionaires and one billionaire in California’s Central Valley.

In keeping with her visceral contempt for representative democracy and the citizens she purports to represent, Lord DiFi plans to push through her multi-billion dollar giveaway as a rider on the fast track Senate jobs bill.

Is DiFi’s multibillion scheme to give away thirty billion people’s water to a few hundred deadbeat welfare millionaire and one billionaire OK with Senate Majority Leader and President Obama?

Call them, and find out. But better call soon: the jobs bill – like DiFi’s obscenely wealthy pals – is on a fast track.

Or you can simply roll over, do nothing, and repeat the mantra: “Forget it Jake. It’s the Delta.”

Deconstructing Myths of America: Laura Flanders: “What do you mean, civilized?”

By: Friday January 8, 2010 12:45 pm

In her inimitable style, Laura Flanders takes on the central myth of the Washington Post‘s propaganda regarding Uganda, busting down to size their hubris and reminding this poet of Naomi Klein’s words from over two years ago. It’s all about the deliberate weaponization of myths and rhetoric to jack electorates to hell and stick us with the bill in every way. Even John Oliver is getting in on the act.

We are All Bolivians Now

By: Saturday December 5, 2009 12:06 pm

In “The Shock Doctrine” Naomi Klein chronicles what she could find out about the 1985 election in Bolivia which led to Chicago School of Economics “shock therapy” for the people of Bolivia. Is that what is happening here?

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures; May The Dialogue Begin

By: Thursday December 3, 2009 6:35 pm

Obama is a neocon who dreams of world empire and he’s destroying our economy, the middle class, and labor unions with the Shock Doctrine with intent to create Milton Friedman’s dream of an unregulated free market. We have to stop him.

Will We Get A Homeland Medical Security Act?

By: Wednesday August 12, 2009 1:47 pm

Could we end up with a Homeland Medical Security Act which will be as big a giveaway to corporations as the Homeland Security Act was? Dan Froomkin’s article on Obamacare got me thinking about what he calls the “Military/National Security Complex that sets the president “back on his heels”.
