TRUE SPIRITUALITY and “Religion” is the one where the Atheist and the Jew, the Buddhist and the Muslim, the Druid and the Protestant, the Catholic and the Mormon, the Wiccan and the Hindu, all of the above and all not mentioned, can work together for the betterment of HUMANITY, THE ENVIRONMENT, and the DELICATE BALANCE OF BOTH.

Maybe THEN we can stop claiming plots of land as “holy” and let go of End-Times Fantasies and instead stand for EQUALITY, FREEDOM, DIGNITY and RESPECT OF ALL LIFE.

Creating a Better World: Sea Shepherd Comes to Gulf of Mexico, Leads Change by Example

By: Monday August 30, 2010 8:29 pm

A lot of us here at FDL get frustrated with how ineffective our political leaders have become. Paul Watson, Founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has demonstrated that we don’t need to just rely on our political leaders to create change for the better. Weekly Pulse: U.S. Social Forum Tackles Health Issues

By: Wednesday June 23, 2010 9:04 am

Tens of thousands of progressive activists are converging on Detroit this week for the U.S. Social Forum to envision a better future. In the fight for social justice and sustainability, health and health care are at the forefront. During the meeting, the Washtenaw Reds plan to launch a free clinic in Detroit. Beyond progressivism: Toward a new politics and a new economics

By: Wednesday April 14, 2010 9:09 pm

An attempt to lay out some of the distinction between “Progressive” and “Green”, while making something of a case for the Green perspective. I hope this helps spark some thought and discussion — I am tired of us falling into the traps that are set out for us, and we desperately need the type of enlightened dialogue FDL provides.

By: Wednesday March 24, 2010 7:00 pm

Lately, Glenn Beck has made headlines by condemning the age-old Christian practice of social justice.
I wonder if Beck is familiar with the Old Testament prophet Amos, who has a few things of his own to say about social justice.

Ask And You Shall Receive: Fifty Point Third Party Platform

By: Saturday March 20, 2010 1:02 pm

Many people have expressed a desire to form a new third party. I present the following fifty principles as the foundation for that party (or to use in attempting to change the Democratic Party, which I believe is impossible).
