On Monday, China “canceled a series of military and diplomatic contacts with the United States” because of an arms sale to Taiwan. Well today John McCain:
issued a statement urging the administration to add submarines and F-16s aircraft to a $6 billion package of military equipment for Taiwan that the White House unveiled last week.

Last week, in the midst of the unfolding global “credit crunch” meltdown, the Bush people thought it would be a smashing good time to sell a few billion worth of arms to the mortal enemy of the country that’s propping up much of our debt load. Now that country, China, is fighting back. Wonderful.
