The POTUS’s religion comes into question yet again, and this time the White House tries to set things straight. Massey Energy is hit with federal fines totaling roughly $4 Million in 2nd quarter 2010, but will either of these efforts make an impact on their respective current situations?

The refusal of Obama and the Democrats to investigate and prosecute BushCo criminals.

The right-wing-nuttery continued its nattering today with its claims that the President’s speech to American schoolchildren would be biased and ideological and that he should not be speaking to them. Here’s an answer for Rush, the Michelles (Malkin and Bachmann), Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck, and all the other scoundrels, male and female, who are spewing out their nonsense in the various right-wing organs funded by the plutocrats, whose real interest is in overthrowing our democracy, not in safeguarding anyone’s freedom.

So, whether or not Mr. Obama’s policy on torture saves us from further attacks or provides openings for new ones, they are the policies that save America, because they return us to who we are as a nation. While the policies followed by Bush and Cheney, whether or not they did or did not prevent attacks after 9/11, destroy America, simply because they destroy what we are as a country and who we are as Americans. We must never be tempted by danger, insecurity, and fear to follow them, ever again. And we must move to investigate, prosecute, convict and punish those who followed them. We must do this not because we are seeking revenge, and not because we are engaged in politics, but to do justice, and also because we must make clear to them, to ourselves, and to future generations of Americans and other nations, who we are, and what America is.

Torture, and war crimes, can we recover?

People have no right to stick their noses in to the love lives, bedrooms and marriages of other adults. And I never had to ask for Mike Huckabee’s or any one else, gay, lesbian, heterosexual, religious, atheist or other, for permission to get married – other than my wife-to-be at the time. All of you on the wrong side of this argument have been left with the freedom to choose your religion, your morals, your values and even your spouse.

The GLBT community deserves the same rights.
