ABC This Week’s Amanpour came armed with videos and quotes to show Mitch McConnell how embarrassed any rational person would be by the nutty positions expressed by Republican candidates like Sharron Angle, Rand Paul, Joe Miller, and Christine O’Donnell. But McConnell dodged every question; Amanpour simply gave up trying to get honest answers.

It remains a mystery to me why the candidates who are able to tell the truth because they are doing the right thing aren’t able to capitalize on it. Telling the public that they are constantly given the lies of the right wing in order to get their votes against their own interests seems like something we really need to press home, over and over.

The Republic is in serious decline and it could easily get worse. The party in charge can’t lead without someone with more vision and drive at the top, while the party that wants to take their places has been seized by mendacious nuts. Anyone who can’t see we’re literally in a world of hurt wins the Dan Senor Head in the Oily Sand award for the week.

Despite the torture it might inflict the interview is a must watch for any self respecting Democrat. It will amaze and hopefully anger the Dems for being pushed into mouthing such malarkey, especially come November. I wonder how can the President and his advisers not see the obvious folly of their calculations.
