The Human Rights Campaign, reliable lapdogs for the Obama White House and their lack of progress on LGBT issues, bothered to chastise GOP Senate candidate in Colorado Ken Buck — on Sunday! — for his remarks on NBC’s Meet the Press that being gay was a “choice.”

On Wednesday August 26th of this year, I attended a Metro Democratic Club meeting in Louisville, KY. Although the meeting was scheduled as a local candidates meet and greet, the featured speaker was Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth who represents Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional District.  Even though the meeting was run by one of the most active Democratic clubs in Louisville, the meeting was open to the public.  In other words, Yarmuth was there to present what the Democrats had accomplished in the latest session and to take questions from club members — but Rep. Yarmuth must not have gotten the White House memo to be upbeat about White House plans/achievements on the economy while you punch a hippie.

Ms. Jarrett needs to apologize, quickly AND publicly, for her unfortunate and ill-considered choice of words both to the grieving parents of this young man and to the LGBT community. Her comments appear to support the very ignorance and disregard that lead to anti-gay bullying and violence and, as a representative of this administration, need to be corrected.

To hear how far out of the mainstream the Obama White House is, just listen to senior adviser Valerie Jarrett describe her conversation with the parents of suicided gay teen Justin Aarberg, and her description of Justin having “made a lifestyle choice.”

It’s startling to be reminded how long ago 9/11 was because our public figures keep talking about the Afghanistan War like it started last year. General Petraeus let us know back in February in a Meet the Press interview that we were just then getting “the inputs about right,” and were now “starting to see some of the outputs.” Nine years into this war, and Petraeus lets us know they’re just getting warmed up. Good God.
